here to stay..

..or at least for now.

I haven't blogged much lately. Probably because; (a.) I've been thinking a lot about switching to a different blog site or starting completely fresh. (b.) I've been thinking a lot about branding myself and I think my most current posts contradict the direction I want to go in. (c.) school is kicking my ass. and (d.) to be honest, most of the photographs I've uploaded here arn't ones I'm necessarily proud of. BUT, I think they show growth and one day, I'll look back at all my posts and remember how great the expierence was or be very excited for how much I've learned.

So, as of now, I am staying here at this blog. In the next few weeks I will be starting up kellyboitano.com (which I'm SO excited about).

I hope you are having a lovely weekend :)

Self Portrait

For this assignments we were asked to find a piece of art that speaks to our soul.  I looked at a lot of art from the 20's and 50's and stumbled upon a piece by Bernard Villemot. I liked the simple and bold colors, the girly-ness, the pose, and those big red lips! So after hours of sowing, cutting, picture taking, editing, re-editing, and blodding fingers later....here is a replication "Bally"..

Miriam & Justin

My friends Miriam and Justin (who are actually dating and very much in love) agreed to model for me for a faux engagement session. They were so cute and fun and so willing and excited to go out and play! So here are some pictures of love, and some good looking faces too:

CD assignment

Below is my CD assignment for my design class. I used photographs of my friend Miriam and turned into a sassy musician! I used InDesign for creating the layout and Photoshop for the doing the inside cover. I thought it was a pretty cool thing to learn!

High Key Portrait Studio

Scene in the studio

The photo above was taken in the studio, where it looked somewhat like the setup below. I just think its so neat to make a small space and a few lights look like a window-lit room.

Lizzy& her art.

Over Christmas break I took A LOT of pictures... these might just be my favorite. These shots of Lizzy were done for my "Envoironmental Portrait" assignment which means I was suppose to photograph someone in their environment. I love Lizzys look and style and I knew her work was incredible and unique..so, I asked her if I could photograph her. I'm glad I did because she was fun and super easy to take pictures of. Here are some of my favorites:
